A Christmas extravaganza will be held in Kirkleatham Hall Museum.There will be Father Christmas, carols, a craft fair and a magician as well as a special Christmas menu at the caf on Sunday, December 1. There will also be children's craft sessions to make calendars and music performed by Richard Grainger's Wassaillers and St Peter's Church Choir. The timetable is: 10am to 4pm, Father Christmas, magician, children's craft activity, craft fair, plant nursery and festive floral arrangements; 10.30am to 11.30am, Richard Grainger's Wassailers, noon to 1pm; St Peter's Church Choir, 2pm to 3pm; Wassailers in the Pavilion and 3pm to 4pm; Wassailers in the museum. Childcare courses: Free courses are available to help women in Hartlepool build a career in childcare. The courses are being run by New Deal for Communities and start in the new year. The courses take place at Belle Vue Sports and Community Centre, in Kendal Road, Hartlepool, and will have flexible start and finish times as well as a free creche. DRIFTWOOD MOBILES: Countryside wardens at the Saltburn Valley Woodland Centre are organising a walk on the beach to look for driftwood on Sunday, December 2. Local artists will then help you turn them into mobiles. The event, from 1pm to 4pm, starts at the Cat Nab car park, costing £1. For more information, call (01287) 622408.
PETER'S TALK: An illustrated talk entitled Peter's Pot Pourri will be held at the United Reformed Church Hall, in Station Road, Redcar, on Tuesday, at 7.30pm. Admission is £1.25
