STUDENTS in Hartlepool had a visit from Anne Frank's step-sister yesterday.
Eva Schloss, whose step-sister Anne wrote her famous diary during her years in hiding from the Nazis, gave a talk to students from the town's Manor College of Technology and Sixth Form College about her experiences during the Holocaust.
Like Anne, Eva and her family were hidden from the Nazis in Holland, but were discovered and loaded onto trucks bound for Auschwitz.
Eva and her mother Fritzi survived the horrors, but her father and brother did not.
Karen Adams, from the education department at Hartlepool Borough Council, said: "Her story is one of tenacity and survival against all the odds, and offers a real message of hope for future generations."
