PEOPLE in Hartlepool can hear more about what is happening in the area from the town's mayor at an event next week.
In Hartlepool's very first State of the Borough Debate, Stuart Drummond will talk about issues affecting the borough and what is being done to make life better for people living in it.
At the end of his presentation, there will be an hour-long session in which the audience will be able to ask him questions.
The debate takes place on Wednesday, in the Civic Centre, from 6pm to 7.30pm.
It will be an annual event and is part of moves to make Hartlepool Borough Council more accessible and accountable to people.
The debate will be chaired by Councillor Carl Richardson, chairman of the council.
Mr Drummond said: "This important new event will give me the opportunity to talk directly to local people about key issues affecting the borough and to explain what we plan to do to enhance the quality of life of people living in it.
"I look forward to seeing as many local people as possible and answering any questions which my talk may raise."
