A YOUNG drummer got his first taste of playing alongside professionals in front of a 200 strong audience.
Barrie Kirtley, of Spennymoor, joined the Drum Centre House Band for a special event at Live Theatre in Newcastle, to encourage young musicians in the region.
The 13-year-old Tudhoe Grange School pupil has only been playing the drums for two years but didn't think twice about leading out the band.
The Drummers on Top clinic was organised by Newcastle Drum Centre to bring together top professionals and aspiring amateurs. Barrie was one of 28 lucky players chosen from 42 who applied to play at the event.
