BRASS bands, stilt-walkers and drummers will feature in this year's Darlington Lantern Parade.
The annual procession from the Arts Centre to the Market Square, takes place on Friday, December 13. Children are busy preparing for the event by making the lanterns on this year's theme: Lighting Up The World.
Pupils from Gurney Pease, Sadberge, St Augustine's Corporation Road, St Bede's and Beaumont Hill schools will be making lanterns with the help of art production company Bravura. Ideas for lanterns include Russian dolls, the Taj Mahal and windmills.
Bollywood Brass Band and drummers from Skerne Park Primary School will be providing entertainment.
Local group the Baghdaddies will entertain shoppers in the Market Square from 6pm.
The lantern parade will leave the Art Centre at 6.30pm and move through the town centre to arrive in the Market Square at 7pm.
Entertainment will resume in the square from 7.30pm.
