A CHRISTMAS lunch is being held next week for members of a council exercise programme.
Organisers of Darlington Borough Council's Get Everyone Motivated (Gem) scheme have organised the party for more than 200 people.
Gem is a social and exercise class which takes place in 20 of the borough council's sheltered housing schemes each week.
Members of the group, who are aged between 60 and 95, have been invited to attend a Christmas lunch at the Freemasons' Hall, in Archer Street, on Monday, between noon and 4pm.
The event will include carol singing and a presentation of awards for achievement.
Each group has been asked to make a Father Christmas for a prize competition.
