Mick Tait is confident of ending his search for a goalkeeper when he puts the finishing touches to a loan deal today.
The caretaker boss faces the prospect of being without first-choice keeper Andy Collett for at least a fortnight and with Chris Porter the only other recognised goalkeeper, Tait is close to completing a one-month loan deal.
"Everything is in place and we should have someone in by tomorrow," said Tait.
"I've been looking at three keepers and I'm very confident we will have someone in place."
Collett has been ruled out for at least a fortnight after cracking two ribs - the same injury which ruled him out for the last three months of last season.
With this in mind Tait remains realistic that he could be without the former Boro keeper for longer.
"Colly is out for at least two weeks although by the time he gets back into training we could be looking at nearer a month," said Tait.
"We have to be careful not to rush him back.
"Losing Colly is a huge blow and I'm sure we'll miss him but this is something we have to deal with and get on with.
"He has a very good reputation in the division.
"What makes it more difficult is that everyone is familiar with having Colly back there so it's going to be hard to replace him."
One player who will be hoping to impress in Collett's absence is Middlesbrough-born shot-stopper Porter, who played in Quakers' opening two games of the season.
"I have to make a decision before Saturday but my main priority at the moment is to bring someone else in," said Tait.
"At this level we need to have cover."
* Former Everton striker Brett Angell has signed for Division Two QPR on a six-week contract.
The 34-year-old, who has played for a host of clubs including Sunderland, will go straight into the squad to face Luton on Saturday.
* Blackpool have been forced to put plans to sign Bolton's Colin Hendry on loan as the veteran defender injured a calf muscle in training.
* Steve Stone has been given the go-ahead by Aston Villa to extend his loan spell with Division One leaders Portsmouth.
A Villa spokesman said: "When players do get an opportunity to play first-team football we like to help them. It's as simple as that.'
