Bishop Auckland have released striker Wayne Edgcumbe by mutual consent. Boss, Brian Honour, had talks with the player and the pair decided there should be a parting of the ways. Edgcumbe, who has scored three times this season, didn't travel with the Bishops team which lost 4-0 at Harrogate Town in the League Cup on Tuesday night.
Honour has signed midfielder Phil Ross and gave him an outing at Harrogate.
Bishops are away again tomorrow at Kidsgrove, and then at Bamber Bridge next Tuesday, but they restart home games after a six week break against Matlock next Saturday.
Bishops will be playing in the Chairman's Cup next, along with Spennymoor, who lost their league cup tie at Bradford 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Moors led 1-0 until the fifth minute of stoppage time, before Bradford equalised. The home side took the lead after 109 minutes, but Jason Ainsley levelled with almost the last kick of the match. David Goodchild was dismissed during the game for a professional foul.
Gateshead's new chairman, John Coulson, has purchased the shareholding in the club of previous chairman John Gibson. Former Sunderland director Graham Wood has expressed an interest in helping the club financially. Wood had a business in Massachusetts, USA which he recently sold, although the club has stressed they don't see him as a replacement for previous benefactors Cameron Hall.
