Paul Biddle of Spennymoor Ashtree proved the star of the Finals Night played at Bishop Auckland King's Head when he took both the singles title and the doubles, where he played with Ronnie McAloon.
In the singles final, Biddle met Paul Willey of Bishop Auckland Snooker Club and opened out in spectacular fashion when he cleared the table from the break in the first frame. Willey showed his fighting qualities to level the match when he forced a foul out of Biddle and cleared up with his two visits. However, this set back did not phase Biddle, who settled down again to take the next two frames for a 3-1 victory.
In the doubles final Ronnie McAloon joined Paul Biddle against David Craggs and Lee Cullinan of Tow Law Station. The Spennymoor pair had a big slice of luck when McAloon fluked the black to take the first frame. Craggs and Cullinan were able to level by taking the second but Biddle and McAloon completed a 3-1 success by easily taking the next two frames.

Bishop Auckland Area League
Bishop Auckland Manor hosted Bishop Auckland Bay Horse and hoped to continue their good form after a 9-4 victory last week. However it was the visitors who got off to the best start with a win from Garry Lamb. Martin Armstrong equalled the score for the home side before Michael Wright put the Bay Horse back in front. The Manor then won four-in-a-row to gain the advantage, two from Steven Webb and one each from Martin Armstrong and John Collinson. The Bay Horse replied by taking the next two with Michael Wright and Garry Lamb both winning again. Ron Wright took the final singles to put the home side 6-4 in front. The Manor then took control and won the final games; the first doubles being won by Ron Wright and Jon Tomlinson, the second by John Collinson and Martin Armstrong, followed by Steven Webb taking the captains to give the Manor a 9-4 victory.
After a defeat last week Bishop Auckland Derby visited Bishop Auckland Kings Head hoping for a reversal of fortunes. A good start for them saw Stuart Milne take the first frame before the home side levelled through David Jacomb. Frames for Andrew Delve, David Brassell, Gary Dixon and Steve Gwin saw the visitors take a 5-1 lead before David Jacomb took his second point of the evening. Steve Lowther then won another for the Derby but they were unable to capitalise and lost the final two frames to Andrew Tuesday and Kevin Watson. The Derby put themselves 7-4 in front when Steve Lowther and Gary Dixon won the first doubles but that was their last point of the night as Malcolm Parry and Kevin Watson took the second doubles and Steve Bainbridge won the captains games to leave the score 7-6 in favour of the visitors.
