This week only one game beat the weather, it was a league game between Poverina and Big W at Smiths Dock Park.
Poverina showed why they are top of the league by running out 8-2 victors. The first half hour was fairly even until Poverina scored their first. Then added a second just on the break. Big W had their chances but failed to convert. The second half saw Poverina score a further five before Big W hit back twice through Aaron Thompson. At the death Poverina got number eight to cement their place at the top.
Two teams took part in the North Riding Sunday County Cup. Both teams played away and both with different outcomes. D and E Locksmiths took on Apple Tree and were soundly beaten by 9-2. D and E kicked off with only ten men and quickly it was down to nine as a player took a quick bath. At this time Apple Tree were 1-0 up and the converted penalty which made it two. On the half hour it was three. D and E brought their players back to ten with a late arrival and hit Apple Tree with goals from Craig Bell and Mark Stevenson but Apple Tree made it 4-2 at the break. Second period saw Apple Tree hit five on the trot to put the result out of sight. Craig Bell got his second for D and E late on.
Cleveland Inn had to go to Scarborough for their tie against Old Vic. It was a costly trip financially but a rewarding one resultwise. Winning by 10-1 John Ryan scored eight with one each for Stuart Carter and Craig Wilks. Cleveland Inn are hoping for a home draw in the next round to offset the outlay for this game.
