Away day joy for Coke Ovens at South Bank
South Bank United 3 v 5 Redcar Coke Ovens
Ustruck first when Wayne Ali tapped home on 15 minutes but by the break they trailed 2-1. Anthony Gregory hammered the ball home from 12 yards out before Graham Watson put Coke Ovens in ahead. Early in the second half, Cokies increased their lead when Lee Stephenson's shot was deflected into the net but United bounced back to draw level with 15 minutes remaining with Terry Strange heading home from 12 yards before Dave Larkin volleyed home John Webster's cross. Coke Ovens picked up their game once again and five minutes from time, Gregory put them in front yet again and when Tony Duffy scored a minute later the points were in the bag.
Black Horse 0 v 10 B&H King's Head
Black Horse found themselves on the wrong end of another heavy defeat conceding seven goals before half time. Things improved marginally after the break with substitute goalkeeper John Shepherd limiting the damage to just three goals while centre back Paul Hunt never through in the towel despite the scoreline.
Thornaby Mandale 2 v 1 St.
Mary's College
Mandale emerged victorious but they were made to battle all the way before securing the points trhat keeps their championship challenge on course. They took the lead on 15 minutes when Andrew Dyson was first to react from six yards after David Baker's cross had come back off the bar. College equalised from the penalty spot ten minutes later when Craig Sillick converted and for much of the second period, they had the better of the exchanges. Fifteen minutes from time however, a Mandale corner kick broke to John Gittings on the edge of the area fired home the crucial strike.
Thornaby Village 3 v 1 Ennis Square
Thornaby Village moved above Ennis with this result although they left it very late having gone behind when Wayne Gent scrambled the ball home for Ennis mid way through the first. half. The Village come back started with only 15 minutes remaining when Paul Rae headed home Mick McClaren's corner. Dean Miller pounced on a defensive error to give the Village the lead with just ten minutes left and Darren Robinson put the result beyond doubt when he fired home from the penalty spot minutes later.
The Grenadier 2 Middlesbrough Post Office 0
Two goals midway through the first half proved to be enough for the Grenadier to come out on top in their Middlesbrough derby at home to the Post Office. Paul Stephenson flighted a pin point centre for Andy Fixter to head home and ten minutes late the roles were reversed when Fixter set up Stephenson whose downward header was slotted home by Darren Beattie. Post Office battled hard to get back into the game but an inspired second half performance from Grenadier keeper Craig Leach helped to keep them at bay.
Stokesley 1 v 2 Bulls Head
Some outstanding saves from Bull's keeper Shaun Muir kept Stokesley at bay for much of the first half and five minutes from the break, the visitors took the lead when a free kick floated into the net via a Stokesley defender's head. This produced a much more confident performance from the Bull's Head in the second half and they went further ahead when Stokesley gifted them an own goal.
Ten minutes from the end of the game Stokelsey earned some reward for their efforts when Charlie Price made no mistake after going through one on one with the keeper.
