THIRSK has the best black pudding in Yorkshire.
Wholesale butchers, Arthur Haigh, operating from Dalton Industrial Estate, have won several new awards - including that of "best black pudding in Yorkshire".
The family firm's unique, triangular, baked black pudding, made from grandma's recipe, took first prize, and the square pudding second place, at the Yorkshire pork pie and black pudding competition organised by the Confederation of Yorkshire Butchers.
"It was third time lucky," said Duncan Haigh, seen, above, with some of the company's trophies. "We have taken second prize for the last two years but topped it on this occasion, getting both first and second."
The black pudding also scooped a gold award at a Belgian contest, winning a trophy from the Concours International de Boudin
