Dynamic businessman Iain Dale was rewarded with a CBE from the Queen in recognition of his services to industry.
The Filey businessman is the only Yorkshire-based ambassador for British business appointed by the Foreign Office.
He is also chairman of the £180m Henderson TR Pacific Investment Trust.
Among an illustrious roll call of business interests, Mr Dale was formerly chairman of Dale Electric in Scarborough and he chaired the College of Power Technology in York before selling to United Utilities last year.
He now sits on the International Trade Board of Yorkshire Forward, and York's Export forum.
He said: "I was absolutely delighted to receive this award.
"It is a tribute not only to myself but to industry as a whole in the North-East."
