North Lodge WI: THIRTY members braved wet weather to attend the November meeting.
President Mrs Dawson opened the meeting and Mrs J Rennie read the minutes.
The speaker was John Willis on bottles and unusual finds on the dump. He was very interesting as many of the bottles were very old and worth 'a bob or two.'
Mrs J Earnshaw won the competition, a novelty bottle opener. June Thompson reported on the autumn council meeting. Members are looking forward to their Christmas dinner at Harperley Hall in December.
The next meeting is on January 9 at the United Reformed Church at 7pm when Norman Kelly will be the speaker.
At the October meeting the competition was Coronation memorablia. The winner was Vilma Reeve, 2nd June Thompson, 3rd Louise Earnshaw.
The speaker was Alice Agnew, a member of Chester Moor WI since 1956, who had won a place at the classical concert at Buckingham Palace during the Jubilee celebrations and attended with her daughter. She was brilliant.
