A BATHING equipment supplier has won its first major contract after less than a year in business.
Aquajoy Bathlifts, based in Consett Business Park, has won a joint order to supply 12 Scottish local authorities with 1,500 units a year.
The company, owned by local entrepreneur Robert Kane, specialises in providing bath lifts for social services departments and occupational therapists across the UK. It is one of four suppliers in the deal.
Claire Harrop, the firm's sales and marketing manager, said: "This is a big coup for us to get on the contract as a preferred supplier.
"We have only been established since the beginning of the year and we are already competing with the major market players. This is our first major contract and it is the biggest one we could have wished for."
The firm has already taken on an extra member of staff to manage the new account.
