St Luke's Church, in Church Lane, Ferryhill, is holding a lunch to raise money for a sensory room for four-year-old, Shelley Dodds, who is severely handicapped.
Her mother, Debbie, 27, and father, Sean, 32, of Dean Road, have already raised nearly £4,000 but need to raise the same amount again to pay for the room, which will contain colourful lights, speakers and tactile objects.
The lunch, which is being held from 11am to 1pm on Friday, will include a table-top sale.
The church's Christmas fair will be held on Saturday.
