A PUBLIC meeting to discuss plans to move Alderman Leach Primary School in Darlington to the new West Park development is being held by the Cockerton Area Action Group on Friday, at the Bowen Road Hall, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
CAROL SINGING: Crook and Weardale Choral Singers will sing carols at St Margaret's Church, Tanfield, next Tuesday, at 7.30pm. Further performances will be given at Dawson Street Methodist Chapel, Crook, on Saturday, December 14, at 7pm, and at St Thomas' Church, Stanhope, on Tuesday, December17, at 7.30pm.
CHRISTMAS POST: Crook Methodist Church is offering a Christmas card delivery service from Monday, December 9, to Thursday, December 12, between 9.30am and noon. Cards or letters will be delivered on Friday, December 13, for Crook addresses only, at a cost of 10p per item.
GARDENERS MEET: The Sedgefield Garden Society meets next Tuesday, at Ceddesfeld Hall, from 7.45pm. Christmas food and wine will be served and a quiz will be organised by Sylvia Dean. A competition will also be held for best decorated candle.
RACE NIGHT: The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children benefited by £860 from a race night at Binchester Social Club.
CHRISTMAS FAIR: The Eastbourne Nursing Home, in Cobden Street, Darlington, is holding a Christmas fair on Saturday, at 2.30pm. Proceeds will go to the residents' fund.
LIGHT SERVICE: St Cuthbert's Church, in Darlington, is holding a service for light for Advent on Sunday at 6.30pm.
VOLUNTEERS CALL: More volunteers are needed to help run the drop-in centre for young people in Heighington Village Hall. Call (01325) 312337 for details.
BRASS CONCERT: Aycliffe and Brancepeth Brass Band will be giving a concert at Willington Working Men's Club on Thursday, December 12, at 8pm.
CHURCH AID: Spennymoor Town Hall is hosting a fair on behalf of St David's and St Bartholomew's Church, Tudhoe, on Saturday, at 10am.
WINDOW FUND: Members of Toft Hill and Etherley Community Centre committee have thanked hairdresser Dawn Smillie for raising £898 for the window appeal by completing the Great North Run.
TRIBUTE BAND: Beatle Maniacs will play at Carmel College, Darlington, on Wednesday, December 11, from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. Tickets are available on (01325) 254525. All proceeds will go towards the PTA.
DAY TRIP: A pensioners' shopping trip to the Meadowhall Centre, Sheffield, will be held on Saturday December 14. Pick-ups will include Darlington and Newton Aycliffe. For more information call (01325) 313924.
