The Lloyds TSB Foundation has awarded Ushaw Moor Pre-School and Family Facility, at Ushaw Moor Infants School, £3,000 towards the cost of computer equipment.
The facility offers pre-school education and care for 28 children aged three to five. It also offers training opportunities to parents and carers.
Family support worker Paula Nixon said: "We are delighted with this grant from the Lloyds TSB Foundation.
"The computer equipment will enable us to extend the training we offer and provide adults and children with more opportunities to learn together."
Yesterday, Steve Webster, branch manager of Lloyds TSB in Durham, helped the children learn computer skills. He said: "I am delighted that the Lloyds TSB Foundation can fund the cost of PC equipment for Ushaw Moor Pre-School.
"It is really great that children and their parents or carers are able to learn IT skills together, and I hope that the computer brings many local families hours of fun and enjoyment."
