A NORTH-EAST school will be presented with an award at the annual conference of the Technology Colleges Trust today.
Egglescliffe School, in Eaglescliffe, Teesside, has won The Anne Rumney Award for demonstrating the highest achievement and involvement in the arts.
Headteacher Angela Darnell said the school has built up a reputation for excellence in the performing arts over many years.
She said: "The school received an Artsmark Gold in June last year, the orchestra has won the most outstanding award at the Festival of Music for Youth nine times, and our music director, Keith Hewson, won Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year this June.
"We are also a regional centre for excellence in drama, our Annual Theatre Summer schools attract young people from a range of schools and drama productions are a regular part of school life."
The school will be presented with the award by BBC Today Programme presenter John Humphrys, at the International Convention Centre CC in Birmingham.
