YOUNG Matthew Roscoe had a day to remember on Saturday when he led Middlesbrough Football Club's players on to the pitch before the start of their game against Manchester City.
The eight-year-old, a pupil at St Therese of Lisieux Primary School, in Ingleby Barwick, won the prize to be the match-day mascot after taking part in the Walk to School Week organised by Stockton Borough Council's road safety team.
As well as leading out the players, he also received a full replica strip and had his photograph taken with the players.
Pupils from Stockton's Holy Trinity School were also at the match, although their special day began before kick-off.
Thirty-three pupils were taken to Middlesbrough's Football Academy in Eston where they were given professional coaching and lunch.
They were then taken to the Riverside Stadium to watch the game.
Peter Fleming, assistant road safety officer at the council, said: "We would like to thank everyone who took part in Walk to School Week and hope that all our prize winners had a day to remember.
"We would also like to extend our gratitude to Middlesbrough Football Club for making this special day possible."
