AN inquest opened yesterday after a teenage boy died in an accident when he fell from a makeshift swing.
Newcastle coroner David Mitford opened and adjourned an inquest into the death of Peter David Lane, 13, of Roker Avenue, Sunderland.
Peter is understood to have hit his head after falling from the swing on a riverbank behind the old Vaux Brewery site, in Sunderland, on Saturday. He died in hospital.
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
A spokesman said: "The youngster had been playing on a home-made swing on the banks of the River Wear at the back of the brewery site when he is believed to have fallen awkwardly."
