THE Beatles are returning to the region.
Homegrown tribute band The Beatle-Maniacs, including musicians from Teesside rather than Merseyside, will provide entertainment in the build-up to Redcar's Christmas lights switch-on, on Sunday.
Brothers Richard and James Jordan, who take the roles of John Lennon and Ringo Starr, are from Redcar, Chris Johnson, as Paul McCartney, is from Skelton while guitarist Greg Alderson as George Harrison, is from Newcastle.
The build-up starts at 2pm and Santa will switch the lights on at 4.30pm. Dormanstown Delegates Juvenile Jazz Band will lead the parade from the town's bus depot at 4pm to travel along the High Street, with Santa starting off in a giant pick-up truck then walking along the pedestrianised section to the stage.
Children from the Topling Community Arts Group, who are performing earlier in the afternoon, will also join the parade, dressed in Christmas costumes.
A toytown fair, with children's rides, is being set up in the pedestrianised area. Mayor Eric Jackson will join last year's mayor, Vilma Collins, in a horse-drawn carriage in the parade.
