A CLASSICAL music composer from Stockton Sixth Form College will be touring Canada this week.
Dr Geoff Palmer, a contemporary classical music composer, who teaches A-level students, is undertaking a lecture tour of Ottawa and Toronto.
Dr Palmer, 51, whose work is renowned in Canada and has performed in Japan, the US and Finland, will spend part of his visit lecturing to students at the University of Ottawa and the remainder at The Music Gallery, in Toronto.
During his stay in Toronto, his compositions will be performed by musicians in a concert series featuring outstanding compositions from around the world.
Dr Palmer, who plays the cello, first attracted international attention when his work featured at the Cheltenham Music Festival two years ago.
A composition for string quartet, first heard at that time, is being performed in Toronto with a newly commissioned work for solo violin.
