EXCITED youngsters were able to get their first glimpse of Father Christmas when he opened his grotto yesterday.
The festive favourite, with his white beard and red coat, greeted children at The Four Clocks Centre, in Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland.
He will look forward to seeing young visitors every Wednesday and Saturday, from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the centre.
The Four Clocks Centre is celebrating its first Christmas after opening earlier this year.
Santa's post box will be open daily in the grotto for children to send their Christmas lists.
Bishop Auckland Town Hall also has its own grotto this year, and Father Christmas will divide his time between the two venues. He will see visitors at the Town Hall from Monday to Saturday until December 21, from 10am to 5pm.
