YOUTH CLUBS: The Junior Youth Club of St Joseph's, for year two to year five schoolchildren, meets from 6pm to 7.30pm, on Mondays, followed by the senior section, for years six to nine, from 7.30pm to 9pm.
WINTER WALK: A four-mile walk in Beamish Woods will be led by Neville and Gloria Anderson, from 10am, on Saturday, December 7, leaving from the Eden Place picnic area.
VICTORY SHOTS: Martin Figura's photographic exhibition on Horden Victory Club will be staged in Hermitage Comprehensive School, from Tuesday to Thursday, December 19.
HARVEST CHARITY: The Tear Fund appeal received £285 from the proceeds of a harvest festival at St Joseph's Church. A beetle drive held in aid of the fund at Barley Mow Village Hall raised £100.
JAZZ NIGHT: The Algiers Stompers are the guest stars of Jazz in Birtley, which holds a meeting next Thursday, from 8pm to 11pm, in Birtley's St Joseph's CMS Club, tickets are £2.
FOLK NIGHT: Tom and Barbara Brown are the guest stars of the Birtley Folk Club, at 8.30pm on Wednesday, in the Birtley RAOB Club, on Fell Bank.
MUSIC NIGHT: Sacriston and District Everyman's Club will be entertained by musician Bob Crozier, at 7.30pm on Tuesday, in the lounge of St John's Court.
CHRISTMAS CONCERTS: A Christmas concert will be held by the Birtley Musical Society, at 7.30pm, next Thursday and Friday, in St John's Church Hall.
QUIZ NIGHT: A quiz and raffle will be held by the Chester-le-Street Cricket Club, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, on Wednesday. Tickets are available at the door, priced £2.
CAROL NIGHT: Parishioners of St Joseph's RC Church, Birtley, will be carol-singing on Friday, December 6, from 6pm, in the MetroCentre, Gateshead.
CHRISTMAS SERVICE: A Christingle service for Scouts will be held at 6.30pm, on Wednesday, in Christ Church, Lumley.
