A NORTH Yorkshire school has been throwing convention to the wind this week in an effort to raise as much money as possible for charity.
Breaks from lessons at Wensleydale School in Leyburn have already included a chance for pupils to test their knowledge in a Who Wants to Be a Millionaire competition as well as in a test of ability in a musical marathon.
The fun continues throughout the rest of the week, with students arranging their versions of Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right and The Weakest Link, all in the name of charity.
Everyone has been asked to bring a gift, a can of food or a bottled drink to school give to charity while pupils have been challenged to dream up ways of improving their classrooms - with prizes on offer for the most innovative solutions.
However, recycling has also been a recurring theme, with students helping to collect old clothes, cans and paper.
"It has been a really busy week and the children have really thrown themselves into their fundraising ideas," said teacher Lee Wasden.
Causes involved have included the Yorkshire Dales Millennium, Trust, Children in Need, Oxfam, Crisis, Operation Christmas Child, Help the Aged and the RSPCA.
