TENNANTS' auction house of Leyburn, is to hold a general sale spotlighting cameras dating from the 1900s to the 1980s, alongside musical and scientific instruments and radios.
One camera, a Zeiss Ikon Maximar, dating from about 1930, belonged to a German photographer who was a prisoner of war and subsequently settled in this country.
A special lot is a very rare Leica lens 1-0. With many people now appearing to favour digital, there looks set to be bargains available for the traditionalist wishing to set up his or her own colour processing darkroom. There is also an almost new Illumitran slide duplicator.
For more modern equipment, all the famous names will be included - Leica, Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Mamiya and Voigtlander and two excellent Hasselblads.
Viewing is next Friday, from 9am-7pm, and the sale takes place on Saturday, December 7
