The NYSD League Cross Country was held on Sunday, November 10 at Windlestone Hall near Newton Aycliffe. On a perfect day for running, the Quakers Ladies team won first team prize.
In the Under-13 Girls race, Stephanie Millar was first home finishing 20th out of 41 runners in a time of 12:24.
Other Quakers: Lauren Bowkett 27th 12:50, Seraphina Kelvey-Brown 34th 13:36, Rachel Carter 40th 17:00. The Under-13 Girls finished in a team place of sixth.
In the Under-15 Boys race Michael Bond finished 22nd out of 28 runners in a time of 13:11, followed by Simon Farmer in 24th, 13:18.
In the Under-15 Girls race Abigail Wilson had a storming run finishing third out of 23 runners in a time of 13:20, followed by Alex Snook, seventh in 13:54.
In the Under-17 Men's race, Luke Kelton was first home for the club finishing fifth out of 20 in a time of 19:49, followed by David Llewellyn, 12th, 21:56 and Alan Carter, 19th, 29:08. They took the third team prize.
In the ladies race, Julia Orr had an excellent run finishing second out of 56 runners in a time of 19:13, followed by Dawn Richardson, 6th, 19:42, Caroline Davies, 23rd, 22:06 and Caroline MacKenzie, 39th, 25:04, taking the first ladies team prize.
In the Men's Senior Race, Barry Stephenson had his work cut out finishing third out of 138 competitors finishing in a time of 31:59.
Other Quakers: Alasdair Tatham 8th 32:59, Alastair MacKenzie 42nd 36:45, Nicholas Millar 55th 37:23, Wayne Bramley 57th 37:32, Graham Park 64th 38:08, Steve Snook 70th 38:41, Dave Giblin 89th 40:19, Mike Russell 90th 40:23, Rob McSherry 100th 41:53, Peter Smith 107th 42:54, Dave McLachlan 128th 46:52, Harry Manuel 133rd 48:26, Stephen Carter 137th 49:38. The men took first place in Division Two.
On Sunday, November 17, four Quakers competed in the fourth Yorkshire Dragoon 7.7 mile road race in aid of the Teesside MS Therapy Centre. On a cool, dry autumn day, Gordon Richards finished in a time of 48:34, finishing seventh out of 118 runners and second over-40 vet. Next home was Brendan Boyle 1:01:12 73rd, Terry Deary 1:04:58 89th and Sue Boyle 1:13:07 110th overall and fourth 50 female.
On Saturday, November 16, excellent times were recorded at Brampton to Carlisle ten mile road race. Ian Scott led the contingent home finishing 27th out of 493 runners in a time of 55.57 smashing his own club record by 46 seconds and claiming second over 45 vet prize. Next home was Mike Scott with a personal best time of 1:14:07, finishing 296th and Paul Quinn, 1:27:02, 420th.
