Sedgefield 75
Sedgefield 75 girls travelled to Liverpool to play in the Liverpool invitation junior girls waterpolo championships. This is the premier event in Great Britain for club sides in junior polo for girls.
Sedgefield defeated the holders Manchester 3-2, Liverpool 7-4, Solihull 8-3 and the Great Britain under 16 girls team 12-0 to confirm their position as the best club side in junior polo in Britain. This is a tremendous achievement considering the strength of the big city clubs.
Angela Winstanley Smith was player of the tournament by Sedgefield with an outstanding display. She was also leading scorer in the tournament with 14 goals. She was ably supported by her international teammates. Carol Mohan and Samantha Mitchell. Sarah Scott gave an excellent performance in goal. Clair Langley, Anna Richardson, Chloe Willcox, Felicity Leighton and Victoria Ibbotson all played important roles in this fine triumph.
