Richmond Town: The Under-11s played Thirsk Falcons at home and won 4-2, writes Ben Prosser.

A much improved performance saw them lead 3-0 at half time with goals from man of match Gavin Hill and two from J Woodall who played one of his best games to date. Thirsk came back in the second half to 3-2 after poor defending but with the game hanging in the balance G Hill broke away from the halfway line, beating three defenders and shot past the keeper to win 4-2.

The Under-10s were at home to Brompton and played two games.

The first was lost 4-1 with the goal from W Gardner and man of match went to E Stamp. The second game was a 2-2 draw with I Featherstone and J Hunter scoring while T Gould was man of the match.

The Under-12s won in the Richmond and District Cup 2-0. Goals were by S Radford and R Bastow and man of match was A Kearney. An excellent result and performance.

The Under-13s were at home to Darlington 21st All stars and were defeated 4-0.

Richmond Town Under-14s won away to Kader 7-0. At half time the scoreline was nly 1-0 from a K Holbrook penalty but in the second half the team strolled away easily despite being short on numbers, therefore, keeper Ben Prosser was played at centre half with other goalie, S Walker, in goal. There were four goals from in form N Fisher who caught the eye of a scout watching the game. The other goals came from C Westgarth and S Mander.

The Under-15s were at home to New Marske Sports Club. They drew 2-2 after coming from two goals down with C.Cox scoring both goals. A good exciting game and a good result against unbeaten New Marske.

Brompton

Brompton and Northallerton Under-16s played a local derby at the Recreation Ground, Brompton in a match that was described as having everything. The home side created the better chances early on, but Northallerton forced the first save with an excellent drive from 15 yards out. Tom Eyre, in the Brompton goal, touched this round for a corner. Brompton took the lead through Chris Dixon, who made a run down the left wing and put in a cross which deceived the Northallerton keeper going into the net over his head. Brompton kept creating chances but poor finishing and a one on one save from the Northallerton keeper kept the score at 1-0 half time.

Northallerton equalised when a Brompton move broke down on the edge of the Northallerton area. Good passing created the opening for Kemp to score.

Both teams pressed for the winner. In the last minute an 18-yard shot from Ian Duffus beat the Northallerton keeper but rebounded from the crossbar to Brompton's man of the match Colin Clemmitt, but he could only drive a low shot wide of the post.

Brompton Under-14s travelled to Thornaby in the TJAFL. This was a top v bottom encounter in division four. Thornaby put up a spirited start to the game and it took Brompton 22 minutes before they opened the scoring and then the floodgates opened. Stefan Pearson scored four, Scott Goodrum and Peter Starr scored one each to lead at half time 6-0. Johnny Brown making his full debut set up two of the goals. The second half was one-way traffic with Brompton adding another eight goals. Lukas Sutton scored one and thanks to some astute passing by his teammates Pearson added another seven goals, to take his match tally to an amazing 11 goals. He also claimed a well deserved man of the match.

Thirsk Falcons

Thirsk Under-13s notched up 50 league goals in seven games beating Redcar 9-0 despite the best efforts of Redcar's keeper.

Thomas Burrell headed the opener from a Costick corner and minutes later Fountain hurried in a shot for 2-0. The same scorers completed their doubles before half time, Costick and Dixon claiming assists.

Five minutes into the second period Fountain snatched a hat-trick out-pacing several defenders to score ten yards out. Costick then finished off a flowing move instigated by Raw and D Padget for Falcons sixth.

From the restart Fountain dispossessed Redcar, eluded eight challengers and slotted in his fourth for the goal of the day.

Costick's pinpoint corner found a rising Tom James who thumped in the header for number eight leaving James Padget to claim his first ever 11-a-side goal, sweeping in another Costick delivery.

Thirsk Under-14s continued their good form defeating Billingham 3-1. David James produced two accomplished finishes either side of half time and then won a penalty which Johnny Lake converted. Anthony Elders and Michael Cobb turned in dedicated displays sharing man of the match.

High-flying Falcons Under-10s A played out a tough encounter against local rivals Bedale last Sunday. Bedale started strongly and went into the break two-up. In the second half however, Falcons put on the style to overturn the deficit. Falcons goals came from Easton and a couple from Newcombe who got his second in the last minute as Falcons A went onto beat Bedale B 3-2.

Falcons B beat Bedale B 1-0 and Falcons B lost to Bedale A 3-0. Falcons are away to Catterick AWS on Sunday.

Apollo Doors Gateshead Youth League

Low Fell, who had won nine of their first ten games were held to a 3-3 draw visiting Hebburn in the Under-11 division. Low Fell's lead at the top of the table has been reduced to just one point over Heworth.

Joshua Nicholson was the hero for Hebburn as he rifled a hat trick and for Low Fell, James Hall bagged a brace of goals.

Two goals from Joe Robe was the highlight of Heworth's victory at Beamish and the biggest win of the day was recorded by Leam Rangers who hammered bottom of the table and pointless Consett 9-0. The goals were recorded by Matthew Hart, with four strikes, Chris Hall, who hit a hat trick and Leon Campbell (2). The other game in the Under-11 section was won by Prudhoe, who finished 4-2 in front of Felling Magpies.

In the Under-12 section, There was a defeat for Whickham Fellside, but they still enjoy a three point lead over Leam Rangers Y although their rivals have three games in hand.

Leam Rangers G were the victors over Whickham Fellside B when Stephen Dewhirst hit a hat trick.

Consett won 5-2 at Blaydon helped by a brace of goals from Connor Etheridge and Redheugh defeated Swalwell 4-1 when Edward Keiron was another player to score twice.

Beamish just had the edge over Cleveland Hall winning by the odd goal in five but Chopwell made light of their task against Winlaton when Stuart Brooke bagged a brace.

Two sides from the league were involved in the Durham County Under-12 Cup and both won handsomely. Low Fell hammered Seaton Carew 12-0 when Alex Tait struck six times and Phil Taylor recorded a hat trick.

Leam Rangers Y were just a goal behind Low Fell, defeating Darlington All Stars 11-1 when Scott Anderson was the leading scorer with four goals.

In the Under-13 division, Redheugh moved into second place with a 9-0 victory over Low Fell C when Liam Henderson struck five times.

In contrast, Blackfyne had their work cut out winning 4-3 at Leam Rangers for whom David Armstrong scored twice. Both Connell Reid and Lewis Teesdale scored twice for Blackfyne.

Daniel Bruce was another player to find the net on two occasions but Consett lost 5-2 to Cleveland Hal for whom David Hubbard and Chris Stephenson both struck a couple of goals.

In the Under-14 section, Whickham Glebe easily saw off Consett 6-1 and Leam Rangers recorded a similar result at the expense of Beamish when John Etchells (3), and Daniel Iveson (2), scored most of the goals.

Keith Simpson, with four goals and Stephen Elliott (3), led Felling Magpies to an 8-1 success at Burnside.

At Under-15 level there was a 12-goal feast when Blaydon defeated Leam Rangers 9-3. Liam Bell (3), Lee Craggs (3) and Carl Peaker (2) were all among the goals for Blaydon.

Stephen Douglas struck four times and John Westgarth twice as Consett ended 9-0 in front of Rutherford and two goals from Michael Small enabled Redheugh to gain a point from a 3-3 draw at Ryton. In the remaining fixture Cleveland Hall finished 3-1 in front of Felling Magpies.
