CHILDREN in Teesside are getting hands-on experience of the environment.
Middlesbrough's Archibald Primary School pupils helped plant bulbs on the town's Whinney Banks Estate yesterday.
Biodiversity officer Liz Arnold said: "This event is part of an ongoing project to enhance the site for wildlife and for people to enjoy."
The eight-hectare site consists of a pond which is of ecological importance, and grassland and scrub.
A series of events and walks will take place and a leaflet will also be produced thanks to a grant from the Hanson Environment Fund.
