FORMER world boxing champion Glenn McCrory is preparing to go the distance with an event to aid charity and a theatre production dedicated to the memory of his brother.
Glenn, of Stanley, County Durham, has organised a concert at the town's Lamplight Arts Centre, on Tuesday, at 7.30pm, in aid of Sargent Cancercare for Children.
His company, Two Triangle Productions, based at the venue, has lined up Freddie "Fingers" Lee, Pop Idol finalist Aaron Bailey, from Newcastle, and Raymond Blondell, who is currently in Memphis entertaining rock and roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis, and Hollywood heavyweight Samuel L Jackson.
Glenn, who now works for Sky Sports as a boxing pundit, will be the host for the evening.
He said: "We have a great line-up of international and local talent to entertain and bring some Christmas magic to the people of Stanley. The audience will be welcomed with a glass of champagne, and we hope that people will dress up and make a night of it.
Next April, McCrory's play Carrying David, the true story of his relationship with his disabled brother, will be performed at the Gala Theatre, Durham.
For concert tickets, contact the Lamplight Arts Centre, Front Street, Stanley, telephone (01207) 218899.
