A £300,000 production line has been installed at a County Durham factory which will safeguard its immediate future and create an extra eight jobs company-wide.
Seaward Electronic put the printed circuit board (PCB) line in its Peterlee factory.
In addition, the group's East Sussex-based manufacturing operation will be moving to new premises early in the New Year.
The computer-controlled fully automatic assembly unit installed in Peterlee will enable the company to significantly increase its production capacity for electrical safety testing equipment, for which it is already a market leader.
The investment removes any need for Seaward to outsource its PCBs from overseas and will also enable more PCB production work to be transferred to County Durham from the South-East.
Managing director Rod Taylor, said where many companies had taken the decision to switch operations abroad, this move reaffirms its commitment to the North-East.
