A PROFESSIONAL musician called at a primary school to drum up interest in the arts.
Children at Howden-le-Wear Primary School, near Crook, including those pictured, learnt how to play a range of instruments, and practised songs and music from West Africa.
Richard Scott, of the 4 Corners Workshop, took djembe drums for all the children to play. The youngest pupils used a variety of instruments to accompany an African story.
Headteacher Val McCourt said: "Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable time, and at the end of the day we all gathered together in the hall.
"Each class then played and sang the music they had learnt."
