Coxhoe Boys
Shane Gavin starred as Coxhoe rammed in another seven goals on Sunday, this time against third-placed St Bedes.
Manager, Bobby Orton praised his commanding centre-back as Coxhoe remain top of the league despite another muddy pitch.
Normally an unsung hero, Gavin was a rock at the back for Bobby's boys. Described as an old-fashioned stopper by his manager, not many get past him.
Highlight of Sunday's match was Michael Roberts' thunderous 20-yard drive which rivaled Alan Shearer's goal versus Manchester United for goal of the weekend.
Other goals came from Daniel Purvis, Jamie Lawson, George Hesler, and Gavin's defensive partner, Ben Raine, also notched while Michael Owen scored twice.
Orton said: "The pitch muddy but not as bad as the week before. We played some nice passing football and worked hard for each other.
"Normally when we score my hands stay in my pockets but when Michael's flew in I had to applaud. I had to go round the back of the net to make sure the pegs had stayed in."
On Sunday Coxhoe travel to Washington to take on Fencehouses.
