Alison Brunton has refused to let her disability stop her from helping other people in need.
The 40-year-old grandmother and wheelchair-user, from Dalton-on-Tees, agreed to have her head shaved to raise money for a teenager who lost two limbs after he was struck by a train earlier this year.
Mrs Brunton broke her back when she fell off a swing four years ago, and since then she has been diagnosed with ME, but despite her disability, she is more determined than ever to help others.
So far, she has raised more than £400 to help 17-year-old Ben Woods, of Hurworth, near Darlington, get advanced prosthetic limbs. The teenager lost his right arm and left leg when he was hit by a train in July.
Pubs and clubs in Darlington have helped by taking donations.
Mrs Brunton said: "I haven't let my disability stop me from helping other people, and I can empathise with Ben because I am disabled after my accident.
"I also suffer from ME, which leaves me very tired a lot of the time, but I am determined to be able to walk again and as long as I keep thinking positively I'm confident it will become a reality.
