ABOUT 150 parents who have taken part in a pioneering council scheme are preparing to celebrate their achievements next month.
In an event organised by staff of Stockton Borough Council's Parenting Plus, parents who have completed a ten-week course to improve their childcare skills will receive certificates.
The project works with parents and carers of children up to 16-year-olds and offers help across the Tees Valley.
These include one-to-one support, confidence-building, computer courses, home budgeting and nutrition advice.
People will receive their certificates from Stockton's mayor, Councillor Jean O'Donnell, at the Swallow Hotel, High Street, on Wednesday, December 11.
Claire Silvers, team manager for Parenting Plus, said: "This is wonderful opportunity for everyone involved to celebrate its success.
"So many parents and carers have gained so much and benefited from the programme, and this is our chance to reward them.
