THERE is fresh hope for a Guisborough nursery school threatened with closure.
St Nicholas Nursery School in Bow Street, which has existed since 1966, came under threat after struggling to find volunteers.
But the school's leader, Christine Parker, said: "We won't be closing down just yet. We have had some people expressing an interest in helping out part-time but we are still looking for some who can help out more regularly.
"We are especially looking for people with childcare qualifications or teaching or nursing experience."
She said: "The problem is that we need at least half of the staff at a session to be qualified, and with one of our volunteers set to retire at Christmas the church committee didn't see how we could continue."
The nursery meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9.30am until noon
Christine Parker said that while they would prefer people with experience they are eager to help people to train and said this could lead to full-time paid jobs in other nurseries. For details call (01287) 634102.
