TWO people were arrested and a significant amount of drugs, believed to be heroin, were seized in a raid on a house in Stavordale Road, Stockton.
Cleveland Police said that the weekend swoop, which was carried out by members of Stockton Community Police Team, had been a targeted operation to improve the quality of life for residents in the area.
RECRUITING CALL: Volunteers with either level two or level three child care teaching or nursing qualifications are needed to help St Nicholas Nursery School, Guisborough, to meet the legal demand that at least half its staff hold appropriate qualifications. Monday, Wednesday and Friday sessions are held in the Parish Hall, Bow Street, Guisborough.
MORE TOYS: The Khilona Toy Library, Middlesbrough, has received a £78,984 National Lottery grant, over three years. The library offers daily educational sessions for children from birth to the age of 11. Parents also meet for support and socialising.
FIRE DRAMA: Firefighters from Cleveland Fire Brigade put out the fire, which broke out in a wall space in Whale Hill Community Centre, Eston Hill, near Middlesbrough. A piece of plastic piping was destroyed by fire and there was minor smoke damage to three rooms.
GIFT APPEAL: People are being urged to donate Harry Potter, Star Wars, or other children's duvet covers to the Butterwick Hospice for Children. The covers, which must be new and suitable for a single bed, can be left at Travelcare, in the Cleveland Centre, Middlesbrough.
CASH BOOST: A sponsored dog walk at Saltburn raised £2,000 for the Saltburn Animal Rescue Association, which is raising funds to build a sanctuary.
HEALTH DEBATE: A seminar called Psychopaths, Preventative Detention and the Mental Health Bill will be held at the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough, on Wednesday.
CAPITAL TREAT: Scott Weall, 14, a pupil at Gillbrook Technology College, South Bank, near Middlesbrough, has had full attendance since starting primary school - and has won a trip to London.
DRYER BLAZE: A tumble dryer caught fire in a house in Elvington Green, Pallister Park, Middlesbrough, filling the property with smoke, yesterday. Members of Cleveland Fire Brigade tackled the fire wearing breathing apparatus.
DRIFTING ALONG: Driftwood picked up from the beach at Saltburn was turned into mobiles at a workshop held in the town's Woodland Centre at the weekend.
YULETIDE CUPPA: Various stalls and refreshments will be available at a Christmas coffee morning at St Timothy's Church, Hemlington, Middlesbrough, on Saturday.
