PEOPLE worried about how an £8m railway village will affect their town station have called a meeting to discuss the future.
The New Shildon Residents' Association has invited Dr Paul Salveson, general manager of the Association of Community-Rail Partnerships, to its meeting next week.
People living next to the site of the proposed development say they are concerned about what will happen to the town's railway station and Heritage Line.
Chairman of the residents' association, David Snell, said: "The coming of the National Rail Museum offers significant potential for the development of the line, and Shildon station in particular.
"Residents want to know what is planned. The association feels that it is important for local people to have their say and be involved."
Dr Salveson has agreed to attend the meeting on Thursday, December 12, at 6.30pm, in the Salvation Army Centre in Cross Street.
