CHILDREN IN NEED: Staff and students at Darlington College of Technology's Catterick campus held a fundraising day for Children in Need.
Staff had a dress-down day. Students designed web pages linked to the specially-created Hitpudsey website, and were sponsored for the number of hits. Over a 24-hour period, the site received nearly 10,000 hits. The day's favourite page, won a computer for the designer. The winner is yet to be announced. The College childcare centre held a quiz, the answers to which could be found on child-friendly websites via the Centre's four personal computers which children can use under supervision. A total of £230 was raised for Children in Need.
CHARITY FAIR: A charity fair held last month at Catterick Garrison raised £4,500. The fair had 37 stands selling everything from cashmere to gourmet cheeses, and attracted more than 400 visitors. Organiser Nikki Gaskell said she was thrilled with the turn-out, as were the exhibitors.
MEDIUM SIGHT: An evening of clairvoyance with medium Les Henderson will be held on Thursday at the White Rose Club, starting at 7.30pm. The evening is to raise funds for Beverley Booth, who is undertaking a 254-mile Nile bike ride challenge in aid of Mencap. Tickets are £3.50. For details, call 01748-834698.
BINGO NIGHT: Bingo is played at The Dalesman Community Centre, Loos Road, on Monday nights. Doors open at 7pm, eyes down at 8pm.
