A POPULAR Christmas sing-along makes a welcome return to two towns later this month.
Derwentside Leisure Services is organising Christmas town centre events after a successful run last year.
The first takes place on Monday, December 16, in Middle Street, Consett, between 6pm and 7.30pm, and again at the same time the following day in Stanley, outside the Lamplight Arts Centre.
Santa will be handing out Christmas gifts to youngsters and there will be free rides for children. Older revellers can enjoy a free mince pie and a carol service, led by the Salvation Army band.
Marketing manager Sue Fox said: "Leisure Services ran the first event last year and received several votes of thanks for arranging them.
"I think the public really appreciated the council making a tangible contribution to the festivities, especially having Santa there for the kids, and encouraging everyone to sing Christmas carols.
"We are hoping we will see an increase in numbers this year, making the events even more successful."
