Willington

After a five week lay off due to the inclement weather, Willington Boys Under-9s continued to make good progress in the Russell Foster small sided leagues with two 1-0 victories. An outstanding playing performance against Redby culminated with Cameron Boyek getting the winner in that game. Captain Benjamin Trotter got the goal to gain victory over Hilda Park.

Willington Boys Under-16s won 2-1 at home to premier division Horden CW in the Russell Foster league cup. Willington went 2-0 up before Horden were reduced to ten men but then pulled a goal back. Horden hit the post in the last minute.

Chris Hutton and David Jackson scored for Willington with Martin Hopps man of the match.

Bishop Auckland

St. Mary's

THE Under-10s finally came out on top in their Teesside Junior Alliance league cup tie on Sunday, beating visitors Darlington Spraire Lads 5-3 after extra time. The 90-minute score was 2-2.

Joseph King scored an excellent hat trick for St. Mary's, whose other scorers were Billy Hutton and Nigel Turner. Bishops keeper, Conner Louth, also had a fine game.

The St. Mary's Under-12s were unlucky to lose 3-0 away to Thornaby in another league cup game.

Earlier, the Under-10s had a comfortable 4-0 league win at home to Belasis Juniors from Billingham. All the goals came in the second half, with Nigel Turner (2), Billy Hutton and Joseph King on target.

St. Mary's Under-12s won 4-1 away to Hardwick Youth after leading 3-1 at half time. Joseph Rea-Dobson (2), Liam Gallagher and Kristian Iceton got the goals. The Under-14s lost 5-4 away to Nunthorpe Athletic after trailing 1-0 at half time. Michael Slater scored a hat-trick for Bishops, with Ross Woodward getting their other goal.

Auckland and District EBAC Youth League

Second placed Coundon & Leeholme Under-18s made it five wins out of five in the League on Saturday with a 4-1 win away to Chilton YC. Lee Thompson (2), Wales and Hedley scored for Coundon, John Grant replying.

The win puts Coundon three points behind leaders Bishop Auckland who have won all their six league games.

Newton Aycliffe strengthened third place with a 5-2 victory away to Meadowfield. Simon Quinn (2), Richard Dimambro-Walters (pen), Gareth Hamblin and Martin Smailes scored for the Aycliffe lads, Meadowfield replying through Andrew Johnson and Andrew Graham.

League clubs fared badly in the second round of the Durham County Youth Cup. Bishop Auckland had an early goal disallowed before going on to lose 3-0 away to Herrington CW. Goalkeeper Liam Lowe was man of the match for Ferryhill in their 9-0 defeat at Lumley. Barnard Castle scored five at home to Gateshead Redheugh BC but went down 12-5 to the cup holders.

Barnard Castle returned to winning ways in the qualifying competition of the League Cup with a 5-1 victory at home to Meadowfield in group two.

Jamie Harwood (2), man of the match Andrew Rodriguez Vanilla and Jonathan Kellett (2) were on target for the Barney lads who are now set fair for the semi finals.

Willington kept up their 100 per cent record in group one, beating visitors Chilton YC 3-1 with goals from Neil Clarke, Martin Hopps and John Maddison, Mark Fishwick replying.

In group two, Coundon & Leeholme drew 1-1 at home to Newton Aycliffe Anthony Ross put Coundon in front midway through the second half, James Hogg equalising for Aycliffe in the last minute.

Coxhoe Boys

After notching seven goals in each of the two previous weeks, Coxhoe doubled that tally with a 14-0 win over Fencehouses on Sunday. On the scoresheet this week were Liam Short, Nathan Ward, Carl Sanderson, Steven Bunning, Jamie Lawson (3) and Michael Owen (4) while Michael Roberts chipped in with a brace of superb long-range efforts. Manager Bobby Orton, paid tribute to his Under-14s, saying: "We passed the ball about how I like them too but our lads didn't take the mick, they shook hands at the end of the game and it was all very good natured."

On Sunday Coxhoe face fellow unbeaten side Seaham at Seaham Cricket Club. "It'll be a canny game," said Bobby.
