The North-East counties junior girls waterpolo team won the National district Championship for the first time at Grantham. T
They defeated the firm favourites the North in the final 10-9 after extra time.
Seven of the 14 players were from Sedgefield 75. They also beat the South 30-0, Midlands 10-6, and West 25-3. Angela Winstanley Smith was in tremendous form again and was the competition's leading scorer.
Carol Mahon and Samantha Mitchell were integral parts of NCC's team.
The other Sedgefield players were Claire Longley, Chloe Willciox, Anna Richardson and Sarah Scott who all played an important part in this great triumph.
