THE Ladies earned a valuable point in a hard-fought local derby against neighbours Chester le Street.

In previous encounters it had always been Chester who had been victorious, but City dug in and battled with the visitors and were unlucky not to claim all three points themselves.

Before the match, City had problems with a lack of availability of goalkeepers and manager Stephen Hamil had to play defender Sarah Alexander in goal - but she did a great job between the sticks.

At the other end Durham went close on three or four occasions, Becky Welch, Magda Carr and Charlotte Rimmer could all have won the game for City with a little luck. But at the end of the day, at 0-0, it was perhaps a fair result.
