Apollo Doors Gateshead Youth League
Just two games were played in the Under-11 division but whereas Redheugh and Heworth fought out a goalless draw, the goals flowed when Low Fell defeated Consett 7-0. The principal scorers were Ricky Fenwick (4), James Hall (2).
In the Under-12 section Whickham Fellside R defeated Winlaton 4-1, Low Fell and Beamish drew 2-2 while Swalwell easily accounted for Blaydon when Joe Adams bagged a brace of goals.
Chopwell finished 3-1 min front of Whickham Fellside B and Leam Rangers G defeated Leam Rangers Y 5-1 when both Dean Martin and Tom Williams scored two goals apiece.
So too did Graham Heslop and Alex Francis when Redheugh saw off the challenge from Cleveland Hall in the Under-13 division. Richard Donavon with a hat trick and Gregg Tait (2) led Low Fell B to an 8-3 victory at home to Blaydon for whom Viv Graham scored twice.
Robert Allen with a hat trick and David Armstrong (2) shared the goals when Leam Rangers finished 5-0 ahead of Winlaton.
At Under-14 level Felling defeated Cooperhall by the odd goal in seven. Lee Bainbridge bagged a brace of goals for Cooperhall.
David Waugh (4) and Darryl Iveson (2) were both among the goals as Whickham Glebe defeated Leam Rangers 6-3. Waugh scored four times for the Glebe and Iveson twice for Rangers.
In the Under-15 section Leam Rangers had the edge over Redheugh, winning 4-2 and Blaydon hammered Consett 9-0 when Carl Peaker struck six times and Lee Craggs found the net on two occasions.
Stocksfield and Ryton drew 3-3. Gregg Rider was twice on the mark for Stocksfield and so too was James Carr for Ryton.
In the Durham County Under-14 Cup, Blaydon defeated Sunderland Plains Farm 3-0 with a couple of goals from Shaun Vipond.
Cleveland Hall had a easy 7-1 success against Brinkburn when Gary Archibald scored four times and two goals from Don Morrisey enabled Redheugh to progress at the expense of Newton Aycliffe.
New County North Durham Youth League
Oone game was played in the Under-16 division and Birtley romped top a 6-0 victory over Wylam. Dean Taylor rifled a hat trick and other goals flowed from Shaun McEvoy, Barry Morgan and Michael Brown.
In the Edward Wanless Cup, Leam Rangers hammered Beamish 9-0. John Storey struck five points, Stephen Roberts bagged a brace with David Dixon and Michael Younger completing the scoring.
Redheugh Under-17s competed in the Durham County Under-18 Cup and gave a particularly good performance, defeating Jarrow 4-2 ,with goals by Tony Thirkeld (2), Terry James and Graham McTaggart.
Coxhoe Boys
After notching seven goals in each of the two previous weeks, Coxhoe doubled that tally with a 14-0 win over Fencehouses on Sunday.
On the scoresheet this week were Liam Short, Nathan Ward, Carl Sanderson, Steven Bunning, Jamie Lawson (3) and Michael Owen (4) while Michael Roberts chipped in with a brace of superb long-range efforts.
Manager Bobby Orton, paid tribute to his Under-14s, saying: "We passed the ball about how I like them too but our lads didn't take the mick, they shook hands at the end of the game and it was all very good natured."
On Sunday Coxhoe face fellow unbeaten side Seaham at Seaham Cricket Club. "It'll be a canny game," said Bobby.
Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League
North Tyneside College, who joined the league this season, are still pointless after losing to Whitley Bay. Colin Laws rifled four goals for the Bay who ended 6-0 in front when Scott Blanford and Simon Rea were also among the goals.
In the Northumberland County Youth Cup, West Denton defeated Prudhoe Town 6-4 but needed extra time after the sides were 3-3 following 90 minutes.
In the Durham County Youth Cup, Consett reached the semi-finals defeated Lambton Street 6-1 with goals by Andy Green (4), Andrew Morgan and Daniel Appleby.
Chester-le-Street moved into third position with a 3-1 victory at home to New Hartley. Paul McDonald gave the Cestrians an interval lead and although Stephen Swinyard was on target for New Hartley, the Cestrians ran out comfortable winners when McDonald scored again and Jonathan Taylor also found the net.
In a midweek league cup tie, Chester le Street easily accounted for North Tyneside college by a 5-2 margin.
Rohm and Haas JOC Hetton Youth League
Nine goals were scored when Lumley met Ferryhill in the prestigious Durham County Youth Cup - with Lumley scoring all of them while Herrington defeated Bishop Auckland by three goals.
Lumley, strong contenders for the championship, were four goals ahead by the half way stage against Ferryhill and scored another five times during a pulsating second 45 minutes.
Simon Dolan, Michael Collins and Wayne Booth all bagged a brace of goals with Stephen Maddocks, Craig McManus and Lee Smith adding to the woes of Ferryhill.
After establishing an interval lead with a goal from Chris Trueman, Herrington consolidated their position when Ryan Rowntree found the net in their home tie with Bishop Auckland. As the visitors attempted to reduce their defecit, Michael Hedley was on target to earn Herrington a 3-0 victory. Lambton Street, however, went out of the competition when they were well beaten by Consett who went into a five goals lead at the halfway stage. Andy Green struck four times and others on the mark for the Steelmen were Andrew Morgan and Daniel Appleby. Dave Snowdon hit a consolation goal for Lambton Street.
In the League Subsidiary Cup, Jarrow St Bede's had the better of neighbours Hebburn, ending 6-1 winners. Andrew Farrell (2), William Gage, Colin Magee, Paul Burrell and Aidan McCaffrey all found the net for Jarrow. Mark McShane was Hebburn's only scorer.
Sacriston played Washington Dunlop also in the Subsidiary Cup and the result was 3-3. Greg Coates scored twice for Sacriston and Simon Rowell was the home side's other scorer.
Riverside
Chester-le-Street
EVENTUALLY the weather improved to allow a full programme of fixtures. The Under-8s lost their first game 2-0 to Whitburn and Cleadon but drew 2-2 with the City of Durham Blacks with the Riverside goals coming from Ross Elliott and Ross Hughes.
The Under-9 RAR gained two fine victories over Hylton Castle and East Durham. Goals from Roberts and Murray gave Riverside a 2-1 win over Hylton Castle and then they beat leaders East Durham 2-0 thanks to two goals from Liam Hall. Man of the match performances came from Patrick Murray and Liam Hall.
The Under-10s got back to winning ways, beating Fulwell 1-0 thanks to David Gardner and then beat Easington Eagles 2-1, both goals from Adam Reach. The Under-11s, despite putting up a good performance, were knocked out of the League Cup 2-0 at Ashbrook.
The Under-13s were at home to Nissan in the quarter final of the league cup. Riverside found themselves 2-0 down in the first half but showed trmendous spirit to fight back eventually winning 7-3. The goals that put Riverside into the semi finals came from Mark Peck (4), Craig Towers, Adam Barker and Chris Cuthbertson.
