HEDGE laying, bike riding and a cemetery walkabout are some of the events taking place in Darlington this winter.

CENTRE EVENTS: The B'Eagles, an Eagles tribute band, will be playing at Hurworth Community Centre tomorrow. Tickets cost £7 in advance, or £8 on the night. The centre is also hosting a Big Band Bash, featuring the Alf Hind Big Band, on Monday, at 7.30pm. Tickets can be bought in advance for £4, or at the door for £5. PENSIONERS' PARTY: Forty pupils at Longfield Comprehensive School, Darlington, are inviting pensioners to a Christmas party at the school on Wednesday, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
CONCERT DATE: A carol concert featuring Cockerton Prize Silver Band and a choir from Alderman Leach Primary School, Darlington, takes place at Cockerton Methodist Church on Wednesday, at 7.30pm.
FUNDRAISING SALE: Red Hall Youth Club in Darlington is holding a sale to fund a children's Christmas party. The event takes place at Red Hall Community Centre on Wednesday, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. To book stalls, call (01325) 388858.
SILENT AUCTION: There will be a silent auction, refreshments and a bring and buy stall in Middleton-in-Teesdale village hall tonight, at 7pm, in aid of St Mary's Church. Middleton Male Voice Choir will be performing. Tickets are £1 for adults and 50p for children.
JAZZ NIGHT: The Alan Barnes Latin Band, which performed at the 2001 Appleby Jazz Festival, comes to Darlington's Arts Centre on December 20 at 8pm. For tickets phone (01325) 486555.
CAROL CONCERT: A carol concert featuring a brass ensemble will take place at Elm Ridge Methodist Church, in Carmel Road South, Darlington, on Monday, December 16, at 7.15pm. Tickets are available at the door priced £4 for adults and £2 for children.
HOUSING PLAN: An application to build six houses at 37 Salters Lane North, in Harrowgate Hill, has been received by Darlington Borough Council.
WALKING CLUB: The Etherley walking group's next event is on Wednesday, leaving the cricket club at 10.30am for Witton Castle.
COMMUNITY TALK: The next meeting of the Burnt Houses, Esperley and Cockfield Partnership is on Tuesday, in Cockfield Community Centre, at 7pm.
FAIR DATE: Hurworth Primary School is holding its Christmas fair tomorrow, from 2pm to 4pm, in the Roundhill Road Hall. Stalls will include chocolate, tombola, bran tub and face painting. Entrance is 20p for adults and free for children.
