A BATTLE of the sexes rugby match has been staged to help boost a hospice's fundraising campaign.
The ladies' team at Mowden Park Rugby Club, in Darlington, took on their male counterparts in a charity game to raise money for St Teresa's Hospice.
After laying down the challenge to the men's team, the ladies eventually ran out winners.
The event also helped the Anthony Nolan Trust, with £233 going to both that charity and the hospice.
Mini-rugby, girls' rugby, food, a raffle and a social night all contributed to the cash total.
David Jones, community fundraising manager for St Teresa's, said: "As this charity match was all the idea of the ladies we are absolutely delighted that they won the game."
