Tow Law Bass League

The top two teams both almost completed maximum wins so that Tow Law New Market A maintain their 15 point lead at the top with a match in hand over second placed, Newhouse Club, who lead Hamilton Row Black Horse by 18 points.

Tow Law New Market A entertained Tow Law Dan's Castle and only dropped one point when Chris Bowes and Angela Suddes took a doubles point. Newhouse Club had a similar success when they entertained Tow Law Rose and Crown, whose only point came when Dorothy Mowbray won a singles.

In a key match in the Captain's Table, David Platt of Esh Stag's Head gave himself a chance of landing the title when he beat fellow challenger, Wayne Anderson of Stanley Earl Derby. This puts Platt one point behind Kenneth Atkinson of Tow Law New Market A with a match in hand.

Willington League

Sunnybrow Brown Trout celebrated after beating their hosts at Willington Commercial for it was one of their rare victories this season and also that it took them away from the foot of the table for the first time. The Commercial had singles wins from Mary Walton and Jean Swain, whilst the Brown Trout moved ahead with singles wins from Trevor Allchurch, Micky Pickles, Nigel Barker and Ronnie Corner. Cottles then had doubles points from Barry Atkinson with Pat Swain and Mary Walton with John Perkins, but the Brown Trout completed their victory when Freddie Whitfield and Trevor Allchurch won the final doubles and followed it by taking the team game.

Hunwick Joiners Arms went five points clear at the top the table after dropping only one point at Hunwick Quarry Burn. Willington Black Horse Tavern occupy the second spot, four points ahead of Willington Club.

Crook Ladies League

Crook Queen's Head A recorded their third maximum victory of the season when the Willington Black Horse team returned home without a point. The Queen's have also recorded eight matches where they have won for the loss of only one point so this form shows why they lead the table by 45 points. Tow Law New Market B are in second place 17 points ahead of Crook Travellers Rest.

The Team Singles Knockout Cup qualifying stage was held at two venues with two qualifiers from each meeting in the semi-finals later in the season.

The results from Crook Surtees were: Round One: Oakenshaw 4 Crook Royal Sun 3; Willington Brewer's Droop 4 Croft Social Club 2; Crook Golden Fleece 4 Crook Three Blue Bells 2. In the Second Round Oakenshaw beat Byers Green Club 4-1, whilst Crook Golden Fleece beat Byers Green Club 4-3 with both winners going forward to the next stage.
