CATERING students dished up a treat for hospice staff by completing a coast-to-coast bike ride.
The students from Darlington College of Technology joined forces with pupils at Beaumont Hill School to raise £1,500 for St Teresa's Hospice, after their fundraising effort was matched byBarclays Bank. They completed a cycle ride from Workington to Sunderland, cycling up to 50 miles a day.
The college students also put their new-found skills to use, serving up meals to keep themselves going on the journey. Work has now started on a full-time care unit at the St Teresa's building, in Woodland Road, Darlington.
The unit will offer 24-hour palliative and respite care for people who do not need hospital treatment, but are too ill to stay in their own homes
